Energy Infrastructure

Within the context of the MAPME initiative, CartONG is currently developing open-source processing routines to access data from Open Street map to automatically download, subset and process energy infrastructure data. The output is a database for transmission lines, power plants, solar farms and wind turbines that can be used for further GIS analysis. The data is separated by regions and then used to map it together with our energy infrastructure projects. The processing routines will be made publicly available via Github once they are completed.
